MCAS Retest, ELA
Dear Parent or Guardian,
As you may be aware there was a question on last year’s ELA MCAS that caused controversy and may have caused stress to students. This question was removed from the scoring process but the Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education has put out the enclosed memorandum offering students the chance to retest for the purpose of John and Abigail Adams scholarship eligibility. Please note that students do not normally have the option to retest to reach scholarship eligibility and this is not an opportunity for students to raise their MCAS scores, this is only being offered because of the controversial question.
If your child wishes to take the MCAS ELA retest they will be taking the old, paper-based test, not the same test they took last spring. The test will be held on the mornings of November 6th, 7th, and 8th and students will be missing class to take this. If you are interested please email, Julia Robinson, email@example.com, by Wednesday, October 9th. I will be ordering exams only for those who are interested and cannot place any orders after the deadline.
Below is a link that outlines all of the specifics of the retest.
