Parents/Guardians of Juniors – College Infomation & Planning

Dear Parents and Guardians of Juniors:

As your child approaches the final months of their junior year they should begin the college and career planning process.  Within the next year they will explore educational and career options and seek admission to colleges, universities, technical institutions, and community colleges.  This is an exciting and challenging time period!

During the weeks of February 3rd and 10th the guidance department will be meeting with juniors in their history classes to conduct college information and planning seminars.  Following the classroom information sessions, Mrs. Colten and I will meet with each junior on an individual basis.  These meetings will focus on helping students identify and examine their interests, abilities, possible majors, and other things that are important to them in choosing the right path.  We will also help students begin to research schools of interest.

On Wednesday, February 12th at 6pm, the Guidance Department will host a College Information Evening for the parents of juniors in the high school auditorium.  The focus will be on the different types of post-secondary educational opportunities, college planning and admission guidelines, characteristics to consider when choosing a college, standardized testing, and other related data.  We hope that you will be able to attend.

Please contact me if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing you on the 12th.

Sincerely

Julia Robinson
